David Scott Reilly
Born: February 19, 1962
Scott Reilly began his career in 1989 working as Assistant District Attorney under Bob Thomas, DA. The position he took was one specifically created for the prosecution of sex offense cases. As a prosecutor, Scott was responsible for every type of case that the DA's office handles from juvenile court to traffic court to felonies in Superior Court. While in the DA's office, he personally tried to juries dozens of cases ranging from DWI to Capital Murder. He believes that it is his jury trial experience that sets him apart from any other candidate. No other candidate even comes close to Scott’s jury trial experience.
After leaving the DA's office in 1994, Scott has been in private practice in Newton focusing almost exclusively on criminal defense cases. Scott is beginning his 25th year practicing law in this district. He has actually been in the courtroom almost every day for 25 years.
Scott and his wife Beth live in Conover, NC and attend Corinth Reformed Church. They have four children between them. Scott has two children, Matthew and Meghan. Matt is a Military Policeman in the United States Army. He just recently returned after spending a year in South Korea. He is currently stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Meghan lives and works in Charlotte, NC and recently became a mother. Scott is the proud grandfather of Jayden Scott. Beth has two children, Tom and Isabella. Tom is living in Zibo, China working for Leather Miracles, a Hickory-based company. Isabella is a sophomore at Georgia Southern University where she plays volleyball.
